So many of you know this year for my birthday I flew out to Colombia. It hasn't been a month since, but the one thing I learned not to take for granted was my air. It's the little things like that you come to realize are so important until you find it missing from your life.
The other thing that I found in rare quantity was water.
Although we New Yorkers tend to bitch about our quality of water, the water that comes out of our facets are actually clean enough to drink. While I was out in Bogota, getting tap water wasn't really possible. All restaurants serve bottled water and the water I did try to get out of the tap wasn't something I'd readily consume.
I didn't think much of it, because it was something normal when I traveled outside the country. Don't drink the tap water. But even though their water is somewhat consumable in small amounts, there are many parts of the country where the water is not. (Read More...)
