| New Years Eve Party In Times Square With Nick & Dana Posted: 31 Dec 2009 06:00 AM PST "Bring in the New Year close enough to Times Square to be a part of it, but not actually near that crazy mess! Like me, many New Yorkers have most likely done the Time Square New Years Ball drop once in their life. If you have you know that its a huge mess over there, with no place to go to the bathroom, or space to move around or even alcohol. Well this party is close enough to Time Square where you can feel like your part of the crazy celebration happening only one block away, but at the same time we have all the things that the crossroads are lacking! We have tons of space, with plenty of alcohol flowing! Join us for a New Years party of epic proportions! There is no expensive entry fee or wrist band or any of that nonsense. We have rented out a loft space with views of Times Square. We will have a bar with $5 drinks to purchase. We have an amazing band Hollis Brown performing, DJ Unpredictable, a giant projector so you can watch the ball drop, as well as plenty of space where you can make out at midnight!" | Posted: 31 Dec 2009 06:00 AM PST "This party comes in four sections spread across two buildings hidden in the heart of Brooklyn. A City of Grit: Dark + Sultry + Dramatic. Three warm floors of a former factory have been converted into a party paradise with hidden tea lounges, reckless rides, live art, cheap liquor and dark dance-floors. The music here is a throw-back to the classic loft-parties where live afro-beat mixes with stellar hip-hop and dj's meet in the middle to keep the people moving. A City of Glamor: Gorgeous + Lush + Provocative. Intelligent techno to breaks to deep dark house join in this seven thousand square foot loft lined with dripping video projections and female chandeliers (yes, there will be fire). The outdoor terrace will be heated with a wood burning stove and constant conversation. A City of Ice: Hidden + Festive + Insolent. One hundred fifty cubic feet of false snow, Santas and seditious elves mix with The Modern Dance Awareness Society to create a winter wonderland that is equal parts absurd and beautiful. Expect spiked cider. A City of Fire: Captivating + Indulgent + Dangerous. This is where beauty meets vice. Stripper poles, piano lounges, aerial acts, casino games and brass bands... The Most Important Midnight: Two Thousand Ten will begin with: champagne bottles, fire acts, brass band explosions, dance-floor countdowns, kisses from strangers and, for the chosen few, a three course meal at the center of it all. This is the start of the best year of your life." Feather masks will be rewarded with champagne and gifts. More details and full list of performers here. | Posted: 24 Dec 2009 06:00 AM PST The Chelsea Art Museum holds extended hours every Thursday and opens their doors to visitors for free. "The Chelsea Art Museum, Home of the Miotte Foundation, is committed to an exploration of 'art within a context.' This approach favors a program of exhibitions which reflect contemporary human experience across a broad spectrum of cultural, social, environmental and geographical contexts. CAM's exhibitions, each supported by a rich series of related cultural events and educational programs, seek to support in both its artists and audiences a sense of creativity, community and cultural exchange. Co-founder and president, Dorothea Keeser, describes CAM's curatorial vision as, 'a commitment to art as a living entity which reacts and interacts with us and changes the way one continues to live one's daily life .'" Editorial: Instant Karma
Will Instant Gratification Decay your Life?It seems many of us are running after instant gratification. Some of us fall into society pressures to marry and have babies, while the rest sit on fence hoping for happiness to knock them off, then there is those who act upon desires. With so many people in the world dieing and being born everyday, instant karma from instant gratification does not seem that bad.
Well... as long as your karma is good.
Many times, people fall in love with someone who is fantastic and great and then the next thing you know, the sight of that person's face can almost induce regurgitation. I believe people grow as they experience life, and while there can be a special 'one' right now, different people become attracted to us at different times in our life.
In America, the divorce rate is still going crazy when infidelity and embezzlement takes a part. Apart from all the drama, there are couples who get married and stay married for life, like my parents. But, there are also many people who rush and get married only to end up divorced, or the lucky few who impulsively get married and then stay married for life. So it seems, in the idea of instant gratification, it's not that bad, as long as all decisions follows personal happiness or demonstrates good karma.
Life happens to all of us, good or bad.
Some may find that they are different today than they were 6 years ago and may not be able to figure out why they dated who they dated back then, or lived the way they lived, I am one of them. But, I have no regrets as I try to look at everyday for life lessons to improve tomorrow. As long as some of us only concentrates on yesterday's results, years from now will more thank likely reflect yesterday, but if we can follow happiness through instant gratification, we might have a chance at being blissful today and incredible tomorrow.
What there is to learn about mistakes, is that they open your eyes to a part of yourself that you may not have noticed before. Point is, there is something to learn from instant gratification as well as holding out for something better or long term results. At times instant gratification collapses the time-line towards personal desires and heightened tomorrow's bliss, but know what your doing. It all depends on how you view life. Don't wait until your 50 to follow your dreams, you may be dead by then.
If there's any New Years Resolution worth pursuing, it's personal happiness... today.
What does happiness mean to you, today?

| Posted: 21 Dec 2009 06:00 AM PST "The video and sculpture installation, Xmas pokes fun at the holiday onslaught of commercial advertising. Light and paper sculptures are cheery and cheesy with a dark twist. Traditional Christmas song lyrics are modified to reflect our recessionary reality as we ring in a new decade. The public is invited to hum along, or to stop for a little longer and learn these 'new classics'. Providing a break from the traditional holiday window display, Donna Cheng's multi-racial Santa sculpture will inhabit Chashama's storefront window surrounded by projections of anti-consumerism messages. Passerby are invited to interact with the sculpture to let it know if they've been good this year. Fun for the entire family." Read More...Digg this | Email to a friend | Reddit |
